Joppa is a short film about three eighteen-year-old girls on the salt marshes of Newburyport, Massachusetts, in the last summer before everything changes — and about the trampoline out in the flats that nobody can quite prove was ever really there.
It's an independent film in the truest sense. We're shooting on location in the place the story comes from, with a crew who believe in it, in a family home standing in for the one on the page. That kind of filmmaking only happens when people decide to make it happen.
Every contribution goes directly onto the screen: the cast and crew who show up before sunrise, the gear that gets us out onto the marsh, the meals, the insurance, the permits — the unglamorous machinery that turns a script into a film people can actually see.
No amount is too small. A few dollars is a tank of gas. Twenty-five is lunch for the camera team. A hundred moves us meaningfully closer to the goal. And if you can't give, sharing this page with someone who might is worth just as much to us.
Thank you for helping us bring Joppa to life.
